After that, cover the glass with plastic wrap, secure it with a rubber band and poke small holes in the top. Flies will be drawn to the scent in the glass and will fly through the holes. However, the detergent in soap will trap the fly and will eventually kill it by destroying its digestive tract.

• Sticky Fly Trap

Using fly traps will help you eliminate the presence of flies in your home. Fly traps are widely used in indoor pest monitoring. They are covered with a very sticky substance that attracts flies, gnats, and most other winged insects and traps them. You can mix sugar and water to get a few flies to the trap and then when it’s trapped and dead, other flies will be attracted to it as well. Another way of doing it is by putting eucalyptus oil on the fly trap to repel them, as flies don’t like the scent of it. Just be careful when using these fly traps as they are very sticky and tend to stick to everything.

• Light Trap

Light traps are boxes with a light in the back that attracts flies and other insects. Flies are killed with an electric zap or trapped when they try to get to the light, depending on the type of light trap you use. There are different types of light sources that you can choose from for your light trap but it is recommended to use an LED one, since LED lamps consume less energy, and reduce waste disposal and carbon footprint. Place the light traps away from the entrances of your house to avoid flies getting inside your home.
