Calabasas is a city in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles County, California with a population of approximately 23,800 residents. Chumash Indians were the original inhabitants of this area and they named it Calabasas. In the Chumash’s native dialect, it means “where the wild geese fly” but in Spanish the city name means pumpkin or squash. Modern settlements started developing when the Spanish explorers arrived and settled in the 17th century.
